Dollar Coin
I thought Congress was going to take a break on this issue this session since they dealt with this last session with but I misunderestimated them again. H.R. 2358 has passed the House on June 12 and the Senate on August 3. It is awaiting the President's signature right now. When will they learn that changing the design of the Dollar Coin is pointless if they do not withdraw the Dollar Bill? Frequent changing of the design will lead the public not to recognize it. Congress needs to recognize that it's not the design but the supply. They need to keep out of the design and focus on the supply. Washington seems to be its own reality.
The only way that the dollar coin can become successful is to remove the Dollar bill from circulation. It's the fiscal conservative thing to do, after all $500 million can be useful right now. And another thing, why compete with itself? It's like a company having 2 stores within a short distance of each other.
