Press Club announces 2010 scholarship winner
The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania will award its fourth annual $5,000 scholarship to Alex Davis, a junior at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
Alex is the editor of the Pitt-Bradford school paper, The Source. While in high school he began writing for his local newspaper and has contributed stories to three other local papers near his hometown, including the Bradford Era. He said he likes to hold government agencies accountable for their actions, pointing to both the positives and the negatives.
The Press Club will present the scholarship to Alex at the annual Golden Quills Dinner on May 3, 2010, at the Sheraton Station Square. Click here for an invitation to the event*.
The Press Club scholarship is designed to encourage outstanding collegiate journalism students in print and broadcasting. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university for at least two years. They must be able to demonstrate why they should receive the award. Their primary residence must be in one of the 29 counties of Western Pennsylvania. The scholarship money is credited to the winner’s account at his or her university or college.
