From the time I can remember,
music has always been a part of my life. People have come and gone,
I’ve gotten older and changed a lot, but music has always remained constant
in my life. It moves me like nothing else on earth and is one of
the few things I’m passionate about. I’ve played all kinds of instruments,
starting when I was 10. I’ve played clarinet, alto saxophone and
bass clarinet. When I was 20, I started playing guitar and writing
songs and have loved every bit of it.
I started out going to school
to be a marine biologist, but during a mission trip over spring break one
year, I felt God was calling me to be a missionary. Missionary is
someone who spreads God’s Word, and over the last year or two that has
meant spreading God’s Word and His love through music. God has blessed
me so much by allowing me to be a part of fortyminusone, giving me the
chance to fulfill a dream of mine and also His will for me right now.
One of my major musical influences
is my dad. He’s been in a band since before I was even born, and
I used to love going to watch his band practice and do concerts.
My other influences have been Leigh Nash, Jewel, and Tiffany Arbuckle.
My favorite singers/groups are Greg Long, Sixpence None the Richer, Jewel,
Plumb, The Kry, Sarah MacLachlan, Bebo Norman and lots more.
Being in fortyminusone has
been awesome. The guys have become like a second family to me.
My hope is that we all become closer to God as we become closer to each
other, and that whatever happens with the band that we are always in God’s
will and bringing others closer to Him.
