The Texas Legislature created the Safety Education Service (SES) in l957. The Safety Education Service is charged with the duties of helping educate the public concerning the States traffic laws thereby stimulating voluntary compliance. Information is provided to the public on various topics including child safety seat use, occupant protection, bicycle/pedestrian safety, DWI/drug awareness, crime prevention and overall traffic safety. This information is disseminated to the general public through the news media, schools, civic clubs, and various other concerned citizen groups, and other law enforcement agencies. SES troopers also handle public information activities and coordinate regional recruiting efforts. My name is Greg Sanches and I
am a State Trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety. I am a Safety Education
Trooper and I am stationed in Lufkin, Texas. I have been employed since 1983 with the
department and also had prior law enforcement experience working with the Angelina County
Sheriffs Department.
My duties as a Trooper are giving safety programs to the public to inform them of safety issues and laws of the State of Texas. I also give other programs such as a shooting exhibition that is entertaining and informative. The counties that I cover are: Angelina , Nacogdoches, Trinity, Sabine, Shelby, Newton, Jasper, San Jacinto, Polk, these are the counties that I am responsible for and proudly serve. There are many other duties of a Safety Education Trooper and many other examples of programs that we give to the public, and these can be found at DPS Web site along with pictures. Also if you have any questions or want a program then you can e-mail me. Shooting Exhibition: I use three different pistols during the shooting exhibition. I use a Smith and Wesson 357 Revolver, a 22 caliber High Standard, and the Department issued Sig Saur 357 Semi Automatic pistol. I shoot into a bullet trap. The bullets enter into a funnel type catch with a trap on the end that stops the bullets. Standard ammunition is used during the exhibition. The exhibition can be preformed indoors or outside. The main purpose of the demonstration is teaching gun safety and to expose people to the Texas DPS and the Safety Education Service. The following photos were taken during an exhibition for the Lufkin Police Explorers inside Lufkin City Hall. If you would like me to do a shooting demonstration for your group or class, call or e-mail me. My office contact number is 936-634-5553 and request to talk to Trooper Greg Sanches or leave a message . The page's WebCounter
