My New Trailer
|
After years of sleeping in my truck topper, I decided I'd had enough! So I set out in pursuit of a gooseneck trailer. I'd seen a 2H slant with a 4' shortwall on a June trailride, and the owner was nice enough to give me a peek inside. It was just right for me! Since I frequently travel alone, I knew I didn't want to pull a super-long rig. Thanks to the internet, I shopped from home. I checked out different brands and visited dealers; I wanted something affordable, but most of all, safe and well made. I finally found a dealer who gave me a fair trade-in on my aluminum BP, so my search was over. I bought a 2002 Exiss XT200. I had extra rear brakelights, loading lights, latches, facescreens, etc. installed mainly for safety issues. My husband felt that I should take the plunge and finish off the LQ, so that lead to another adventure. After much shopping around, I happened upon Richard and Joyce Littrell of Cedar Vale, KS. After the first phone conversation with Richard, I knew I'd found just the right person. We exchanged ideas by numerous phonecalls and pictures via e-mail, and then came up with a floor plan which would provide for all the amenities I'd dreamed of. Richard's easy-going manner somewhat disguises his true "work horse" ethic. I found out that Richard started on my trailer the very next day after delivering it to his house! Five weeks later Randy and I drove back to IL with my new trailer! Now, I am looking forward to shopping for the bedding and other little necessities. If you are thinking of finishing out your trailer's LQ, feel free to e-mail me for more information and/or pictures of mine Or, better yet, give Richard and Joyce a call:Cowboy Style Conversions 620-758-2993. Tell them Cindi sent you! I have to add the following footnote: When I bought the trailer, it had red & black decals on it. I have never been a fan of the color red even from childhood. Because I drive a taupe-colored truck, the red & black seemed even more harsh. Then I happened upon the artist Lanie Frick. I'd seen her decals while surfing since I'd already made up my mind that the stripes were coming off! Luck was with me.......while enjoying the Big Creek down at Hartshorn, MO I learned that Lanie only lived a short distance away! I called my husband in IL, told him get online and look up Lanie's phone number, then call her and ask her to drive over to the trailride because a customer was waiting. Almost instantly, Lanie was at my campsite; we looked at her sample books on the tailgate of my truck. Within days, Lanie was back to apply the taupe-colored decals I'd chosen. Good-bye red & black! |
