Arcola, IL is the birthplace of Johnny Gruelle, creator of the Raggedy Ann and Andy stories & dolls. Because of that, Arcola began a Raggedy Ann Festival where collectors and fellow Raggedy enthusiasts could gather. In addition to the displays, vendors, etc., people annually gather for the traditional festival parade.

     "Slim", our parade chairlady, decided we should join in the fun and give Raggedy Ann and Andy a horseback ride down the parade route. Thus began our own Raggedy Ann fun.
