Adopt a Friend is a public service website seeking to unite individuals wishing to provide loving homes with animals who have been turned over to rescue groups. Hundreds of thousands of dogs are euthanized each year across the United States. There is a saying, "He who saves a life, saves a world." Rescue dogs often make especially loyal pets. Most rescue groups initially keep puppies and dogs in foster homes, where their temperaments are evaluated so that they can be matched to the right household. For example, the foster family may be able to tell you whether or not a particular dog gets along with children, other dogs, and smaller animals.

If you are a member of a rescue organization and would like us to link to your website or list your e-mail address or contact number, please drop us a line. If you are a private individual engaged in rescue work, we may request the names and phone numbers of a neighbor, a veterinarian, and/or a local kennel club or specialty breed club member as references before we list you on our site.

Note, we are not able to personally visit the facilities or homes where the rescue animals, listed on these pages, are kept. If you have reason to believe that any of the organizations or individuals appearing on the Adopt a Friend website in any way neglect or abuse the animals they take in or are using any of these animals as breeding stock, please let us know.
